Mobile Offerings
Not surprisingly a poor mobile offering is being held responsible for a lack of revenues at many leading online gaming companies while others, Mr Green casino as an example, are pointing to their own mobile offering as the source of all things good. There are huge swings in numbers in quarter 3 reports that have been released, and while all is well at Mr Green and indeed at Unibet who saw a sharp 28% increase, it's not such a pretty picture at bwin.party whose 21% decrease in revenue has been blamed on the lack of a solid mobile offering.
Mr Green stated that it was extremely well positioned in the mobile area and that is was well positioned for a player switch to mobile, while bwin.party have announced that there will be a quarter 4 mobile casino launch and sportsbook app updates. Gibraltar based bwin.party has also recently has recently launched a revamped new look Party Poker product too, and has high hopes for an immediate return to upward movement in revenue.
The importance of a quality mobile product is well seen in the Unibet numbers, while last year mobile revenue accounted for 8% of the group's total revenue, this year in the same quarter it was 23%, quite a significant rise. Unibet, it may be said, has invested plenty in its mobile product and a recent upgrade and revamp of its desktop offering recently was in fact to bring that product up to the standard of the mobile offering and not the other way around, showing clearly the efforts that have been made by them in the mobile sector. We seem set for a new set of upgraded apps and mobile offerings as never before have gaming companies been so reliant on the effectiveness of their mobile product and the battle for mobile and tablet dominance seems set to reach new heights.
